The Dujmic campaign received a major boost late yesterday when it received the endorsement of United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Senator Gillibrand announced: “Joe Dujmic is the right choice to fight for Long Island’s hard-working families and taxpayers. I wholeheartedly endorse him.”

Kirsten Gillibrand is the junior United States Senator from the State of New York and an attorney. Prior to serving New York State as its Senator, Ms. Gillibrand was twice elected to the United States House of Representatives, from New York’s 20th congressional district.

Bishop Talks Environment, Education at Chamber Luncheon

Standing in Sag Harbor’s American Hotel on Tuesday afternoon in front of a group including members of the Peconic Land Trust, East Hampton business owners and the creative group behind the Bay Street Theatre, Democtaic Congressman Tim Bishop shared his thoughts about current public policy in Washington D.C. declaring that this fall’s election of Congressional representatives and the Presidential race will be “a clarifying election,” one that charts the legislative course of the United States in the near future.

The talk was sponsored by the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce, which will host Bishop’s challenger, Republican Randy Altschuler, on September 20.

County Deeds Windmill Beach to Sag Harbor

Months after the Suffolk County Legislature and County Executive Steve Bellone approved the transfer, the deed to Windmill Beach was handed over to Sag Harbor Village on Aug. 2

Legislator Jay Schneiderman, I-Montauk, presented the document to the village trustees at the beach, which is next to the , another asset that the county is considering handing over to the village.

Schneiderman sponsored the resolution that authorized the transfer, which was adopted with a 17-1 vote on March 13 and signed by Bellone March 27.| read more ››

Patchogue, LI—Wednesday, August 8: Legislator Rob Calarco, Mayor Paul Pontieri and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone were on hand to celebrate the first leg of the actual move of the iconic Patchogue Carnegie Library from its original location on Lake Street to its new home on Sixth District Court property on West Avenue and West Main Street.

The historic building, which has been sitting on steel girders and primed for the special day, effected the move rather quickly to the corner of Havens Avenue and Lake Street. At midnight the building will complete its journey across the Caroll and Henrietta Swezey Medical Pavillion, down West Avenue to the southeast corner of the county court property, a temporary location. Assembly Candidate Joe Dujmic Calls For State Boater’s Licsense

New York State Assembly candidate Joe Dujmic today announced a Safe Waterways Act he would introduce in Albany which would, for the first time, require all persons operating a boat to have a state-authorized license, conditioned upon passage of an approved safe boating course and proper liability insurance.

To avoid added layers of bureaucracy, Dujmic’s proposed legislation would simply add a boating classification to drivers’ licenses issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Dujmic is the Democratic candidate in the 10th Assembly District, which covers the northwestern corner of Suffolk County comprising of most of the Town of Huntington and parts of Babylon.

$4 Twilight Fee For Beaches Is Repealed

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has repealed the “twilight” fees at Smith Point in Shirley and Cupsogue Beach in Westhampton. The $4 fee at the county beaches, charged for visitors between 5 and 8 p.m.—previously a free time to enjoy the beaches—had been in effect since June 23 and had angered a number of politicians as well as residents. Last week, legislation was introduced by Suffolk County Legislators Kate Browning and Jay Schneiderman to have the fees repealed.| read more ››
