Protecting the Environment and Public Health

Our Congressional District violates public health standards for ozone pollution and violates public health standards for soot pollution. This is the air we breathe. House Republicans passed a bill that would require the President to establish a committee to conduct an analysis of the cumulative impacts of EPA regulations on the economy. The bill would also delay the implementation of critical emissions standards.

Our Congressman Peter King voted to weaken the Clean Air Act by delaying current compliance deadlines for industry by a minimum of 3.5 years. This vote overturns federal court decisions interpreting the Clean Air Act and deletes provisions in the Clean Air Act that courts have upheld as unambiguously clear and protective and weakens the law's longstanding...| read more ››

New York State Assembly candidate Joe Dujmic today called his opponent's proposals on state education "lacking in substance and punitive to parents," and said the plan "reflects Mr. Lupinacci's school board record of raising taxes in seven of the nine years he served, while cutting services."

"My opponent today released an education initiative that is peppered with talking point platitudes, but offers no real plan to address the inequity in state aid that for too long has over-burdened the taxpayers of Long Island school districts," Dujmic said.

"He has added insult to injury by increasing taxes by 51 percent in the last nine years in the South Huntington district where he sits, while in that same period voting to eliminate...| read more ››

Tea Party Madness for the Middle Class

Peter King is voting the same way as the Tea Party when it comes to jobs in America. He opposed a bill that would have stopped jobs from being shipped overseas and would have retained the National Labor Relations Board’s “authority to order a company to maintain or restore jobs that have been or will be outsourced to a foreign country in violation of the National Labor Relations Act.”| read more ››

NEW YORK – National Welcoming Week, an effort to promote meaningful talks on immigration, has netted some big results in New York. It's being viewed as a major change for Suffolk County, according to Maryann Slutsky, director of Long Island Wins.

Under the past administration, says Slutsky, people who wanted to talk constructively about immigration were "drowned out with negative rhetoric." That's why she's pleased that County Executive Steve Bellone decided to host National Welcoming Week in Suffolk County.| read more ››
