Peter King is voting the same way as the Tea Party when it comes to jobs in America. He opposed a bill that would have stopped jobs from being shipped overseas and would have retained the National Labor Relations Board’s “authority to order a company to maintain or restore jobs that have been or will be outsourced to a foreign country in violation of the National Labor Relations Act.”
During the last three months of the Bush administration, the U.S. economy was losing nearly 700,000 jobs a month. While his constituents are struggling with unemployment rates over 8% in Suffolk and over 7.5% in Nassau in 2012, Congressman King is going along with Tea Party obstructionists whose stated main goal was to prevent President Obama from having a second term.
I promise you, from my first day representing this district, my first, second and third priority will be jobs and our economy.
Peter King voted along party lines against legislation which would have ended the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts for those making more than $250,000 a year. The legislation would have allowed the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire and would have maintained funding for low-income heating assistance and Community Development Block Grants and increased funding for food stamps and infrastructure. I also know that as your representative, when faced with more tax cuts for the rich and cuts against heating assistance for low income families or food stamps, I would never make the wrong choice for working people.
We have to stop putting millionaires, Big Oil and corporations ahead of the middle class and seniors. Congressman King voted for tax breaks for millionaires, Big Oil, and companies that ship jobs overseas. It’s time for a change in Congress. I will be that change.
