Q&A: Al Krupski For County Legislature

Al Krupski
Jan

2013

Al Krupski has been a Southold Town Councilman for eight years and a town trustee beginning in 1985 for years before that. He is also a successful farmer on the North Fork as the head of Krupski’s Vegetable Farm, a business that he bought from his parents after receiving a degree in plant science from the University of Delaware.

And now that his three children are grown and either working or still in college themselves, Krupski, 52, is running on the Democratic ticket to fill a seat on the Suffolk County Legislature left vacant by Ed Romaine last November. He is running against Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter for the seat.

After Monday night’s debate at Martha Clara during the short...| read more ››

Endorsement: Al Krupski for County Legislature

Jan

2013

Sean Walter has spent the better part of the past six weeks hammering home to residents on the North Fork that his is the type of voice they need in the Suffolk County Legislature, where he’s argued his opponent would be little more than an extra vote for the Democratic super majority.

That opponent, Southold Town Councilman Al Krupski, has run a quiet campaign, knocking on doors and letting his record of bipartisan cooperation and fiscal conservatism speak for itself.

It’s been exactly the race one might expect, reflecting the general nature of each candidate and the communities they represent: the vocal vs. the tranquil, Riverhead vs. Southold.

Style and personality should play a major role in determining who you...| read more ››

To the Residents of Suffolk's First Legislative District:

My campaign for Suffolk County Legislator in the 1st district has been an incredibly positive learning experience.

I have met many people throughout the entire district who have a strong understanding of what is important to their community. My record of land preservation, environmental protection, and having a business friendly attitude has resonated to those who do not know me personally but favor that kind of government.

With a history of 20 years serving the as town trustee and seven-plus years as town board member it can be attested by those who know me that I have forged a legacy of not serving one political party or faction, but rather the entire...| read more ››

Krupski vows to serve East End district

Al Krupski
Jan

2013

Al Krupski said protecting the interests of Suffolk's East End doesn't need to create clashes with county legislators hailing from more-populous western districts, closer to Jamaica, Queens, than Jamesport.

The Democratic Southold town board member -- a fourth-generation farmer -- is seeking to represent the legislature's 1st District, which is Suffolk's largest, stretching from Fishers Island to Center Moriches. A special election will be held Tuesday, two months after former Republican Legis. Edward Romaine was elected Brookhaven Town supervisor.

"I know the issues are different in Huntington than in Orient, but you build relationships and work with people," Krupski said. "I'm also interested in what the issues are in Huntington, so I'm not just going to be yelling for my...| read more ››

Al Krupski met voters at the Center Post Office Wednesday morning to promote his candidacy in Tuesday’s special election for the 1st District seat in the Suffolk County Legislature. The seat, formerly held by Ed Romaine, is up for grabs since Mr. Romaine was elected Brookhaven Town supervisor last November.

Mr. Krupski was bound for Riverhead after campaigning on the Island, he told the Reporter, to meet with representatives of the Army Corps of Engineers who are dredging waters off the Connecticut coastline with plans to dump what he believes are industrial waste-tainted spoils in Long Island Sound.

Mr. Krupski faces off against Republican Sean Walter, the Riverhead Town supervisor, in Tuesday’s election. Polls will be open in the Shelter...| read more ››

Debate

The two candidates seeking to succeed Ed Romaine as county legislator for the First Legislative District faced off in a debate last night at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead.

Southold Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Al Krupski, a Democrat, and Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter, a Republican, fielded questions about land use and development, agriculture and farmland preservation, the role and structure of county government and what it takes to best represent the East End in the County Legislature.

Supporters of both candidates packed the Gallery One barn at the vineyard — with each camp filling the seats on separate sides of a center aisle — for the 7 p.m. debate hosted by Times/Review Newsgroup and moderated by its executive editor Grant...| read more ››
