Ken Lewis

Shelter Island Superintendent of Highways
Ken Lewis

My name is Ken Lewis and I am running for Highway Superintendent in November. I was raised on Shelter Island. I graduated from the Shelter Island School in 1989. I attended Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania where I earned a BA in English/Communications in 1993. I am currently a heavy equipment operator for the Shelter Island Highway Department where I have worked for the past ten years. My volunteer work and service to the community have ranged from coaching Little League and CYO Basketball, to serving as a volunteer for East End Hospice, Eastern Long Island Hospital and the Shelter Island 5k. I have also served on the Board of Trustees of the Mashomack Preserve, The Shelter Island Board of Education, and The Board of Directors of the Island Gift of Life Foundation. I am currently am a member of The Shelter Island Lions Club. My wife, Robin, is an elementary science teacher in East Hampton, and our son, Kal, is entering his senior year at the University of Iowa. I look forward to continuing to serve this community that means so much to me and my family.

Sarah Tully

Smithtown Town Council
Sarah Tully

I am a proud member of a Blue Line Family with high-level corporate experience residing in St. James with my husband and two children.

This Town Board has been in place for over five years, having inherited from Supervisor Vecchio a $17 million surplus, virtually zero debt, and a government that worked. Since that time? Having gone through tens of millions of dollars of new debt and stimulus funds, Town Hall is "truly concerned" about next year's budget, and is paving fewer roads than before. All the while, this Town Board has been on a hiring spree of friends and family, lavished themselves with eye-popping raises, and raised your taxes.

I'm running for office because it's time we restored fiscal conservatism and sanity to Smithtown. No more rolling out the red carpet for developers who ruin our traffic and pollute our water, and no more stoking the flames of the so-called culture wars to distract from doing the people's work. Smithtown needs new leadership, and it's time to shake up this Town Board.

Matthew Parsons

Southampton Town Trustee
Matt Parsons

Spending time as a child in the salt marshes behind Moriches Inlet hooked me for life. In high school at Westhampton Beach, I won the Marine biology award and later graduated NYU in 2003 with a BA in Biology, spending my summers lifeguarding at various public and private beaches on the south fork. During this time, I also worked with The Cornell Cooperative Marine Program in Southold, working for Chris Pickerell who was using innovative ways to attempt to restore eelgrass to its historical range in the Peconic Bay.
