Ken Lewis

My name is Ken Lewis and I am running for Highway Superintendent in November. I was raised on Shelter Island. I graduated from the Shelter Island School in 1989. I attended Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania where I earned a BA in English/Communications in 1993. I am currently a heavy equipment operator for the Shelter Island Highway Department where I have worked for the past ten years. My volunteer work and service to the community have ranged from coaching Little League and CYO Basketball, to serving as a volunteer for East End Hospice, Eastern Long Island Hospital and the Shelter Island 5k. I have also served on the Board of Trustees of the Mashomack Preserve, The Shelter Island Board of Education, and The Board of Directors of the Island Gift of Life Foundation. I am currently am a member of The Shelter Island Lions Club. My wife, Robin, is an elementary science teacher in East Hampton, and our son, Kal, is entering his senior year at the University of Iowa. I look forward to continuing to serve this community that means so much to me and my family.
