Cutchogue native Al Krupski, a Democrat, won his bid for re-election to the Suffolk County Legislature seat he currently holds by a landslide Tuesday.

Challenged by Republican Albie De Kerillis, Krupski came out ahead, with the unofficial tally giving him the lead by a huge margin of 12546 to 4712.

"I'm honored to represent the 1st District again," Krupski said after the race. "I'm going to get back to work tomorrow; we're going to vote on the budget."

Of the scores of voters who turned out to cast their ballots for him, Krupski said, "I think I'm very familiar with the East End and the important issues; that's why people support me."

After his loss, De Kerillis said he conceded...| read more ››

Endorsement: Al Krupski

Nov

2013

Incumbent county Legislator Al Krupski is running for his first full term on the county level after winning a special election earlier this year against Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter. After earning two-thirds of the vote over Mr. Walter, someone who has proven himself on the town level, Mr. Krupski now faces someone who has less experience in public office in Republican candidate Albie DeKerillis.

Mr. Krupski is the clear choice to earn a full term in office this fall.

Mr. DeKerillis faces a steep uphill battle against Mr. Krupski, who has 28 years in public office under his belt. While seemingly hard-working and community-oriented — Mr. DeKerillis holds down two jobs while volunteering as an EMT — the Republican offers...| read more ››

Town Still Working On A Plan For Donated AED's - Richard Macellaro speaks at Town Meeting

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) save lives. An AED is a device that analyzes a heart rhythm and when necessary, through audio instructions, takes a user through the process of delivering a shock to restore normal cardiac rhythm. According to the American Heart Association, “A victim’s chance of survival decreases by 7-10 percent for every minute that passes without defibrillation.”

A 2002 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine examined the effectiveness of AED use in Chicago’s public airports. During a two year period, 21 persons had non-traumatic cardiac arrests, 18 with ventricular fibrillation. In 4 cases the defibrillators were not available within 5 minutes. In the 11 survivors, 6 were sucessfully resuscitated by rescuers who had no training...| read more ››

SMITHTOWN, NY – Steve Snair, the Democratic, Independence, and Working Families candidate for Smithtown town supervisor, was endorsed today by former Republican Smithtown Councilwoman Joanne Gray.

In a statement, Councilwoman Joanne Gray praised Snair for his vision for Smithtown’s future and his nonpartisan approach. “As a Republican, I support Steve Snair for Supervisor on November 5th. Oct

Earlier this year Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone endorsed fellow Democrat Steve Snair (for Town Supervisor) and Monday night he headed to the V.F.W. in Kings Park to show his support for Snair and other Democratic nominees on November’s ballot. “Democrats can win in Smithtown, I won in Smithtown by a narrow margin because the Democratic votes outnumbered the Republican votes,” he said. Bellone said nobody believed it was possible to win in the Republican strong hold of Smithtown but he said it was the right year, the right town and maybe the stars aligned. “We are on the verge of something like that happening in Smithtown,” he declared. Bellone was also considered a great underdog in the once Republican...| read more ››

Millie Thomas At Chamber Debate

Oct
2
2013

Democratic council candidate Millie Thomas, a Baiting Hollow resident for 12 years and the owner of a real estate agency in Wading River, said her business sense and civic involvement have prepared her for a seat on the town board. As a business owner, she's had to make tough budget decisions and she understands that the needs of her clients come first. As a councilwoman, the clients are taxpayers, she said.

"I know how to set goals and establish a time frame for completion," Thomas said. "A good manager is accountable and we have to be accountable to the taxpayers."

Residents, she said, are "tired of hearing about EPCAL."| read more ››
