1999 Prime sponsor Acquisition of Open Space at Forsythe Meadow Woods

2000 Prime sponsor of Local Law to limit CO2 emissions from power plants in order to reduce Greenhouse Gases

Prime sponsor of the first Local Law in New York State to ban the additive MTBE in gasoline

2001 Prime sponsor of law providing enhancements for the retention and education of CHILD CARE providers

2003 Challenged both parties to form Majority Minority district in Suffolk

2004 First county official in the country to propose legislation to require LEED certification for municipal buildings over one million dollars in construction cost

2005 Prime sponsor of $75 Million Bond to preserve open space and farmland with the ability, for the first time in Suffolk County acquisition program, to use Transfer Development Rights for the purpose of workforce housing, thus marrying environmental concerns with social justice needs.

2006 Sponsored pilot project implementing Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) for future County construction projects

2007 Sponsored a Local Law to prohibit the sale, introduction and propagation of invasive, non-native plant species in Suffolk County

2008 Sponsored legislation banning the purchase of bottled water by Suffolk County

2009 Sponsored legislation forming the Victory Garden Task Force to promote Community Gardening and healthy food choices in Suffolk County
