Mildred (Millie) Thomas was born in Brooklyn and moved to Rocky Point in 1978. In 2002, she and her husband, Tom, moved to Baiting Hollow. She and Tom have been married for 36 years. They have 2 married children, one residing in NYC and the other in Wading River.
Millie attended Hofstra University and the Institute of Technology taking courses in business, banking and real estate. She worked for Chase from 1968 through 1978 and was the supervisor of the Commercial Service Department in the Chase Nassau Headquarters in Great Neck. While raising her family, she assisted her husband with marketing, payroll and accounting for his contracting company.
In 1992, Millie became a licensed realtor in Wading River and opened her own company, Landmark Realty of L.I., Inc. in 2001. She currently has 31 agents and 2 administrative assistants working for her company. She has served The L.I. Board of Realtors North Shore Chapter since 1999 as a Director, Secretary, Vice President and President. During her terms in office, she is proud to say that she helped to put together successful fundraisers for The Seeing Eye Dog Foundation, Christmas in April and Ronald Mc Donald House. Education is important to her and she has taught many new agent classes and has been a presenter for Board Seminars and sat on Top Producer Panels.
On a local level, she has been involved as a Director and an Officer of the Wading River-Shoreham Chamber of Commerce since 1993 serving on the Duck Pond Day Street Festival and the Scholarship Committees. Her Mom had breast cancer so 19 years ago, she started the 5K Walk/Run for the benefit of the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Foundation that is held each May in Wading River. She was a volunteer religion teacher for twelve years at St. Anthony’s Church in Rocky Point.
As well as a resident of Riverhead Town, Millie owns the commercial building that houses her real estate office on Rt. 25A in Wading River. As broker and small business owner, Millie is experienced in Leadership, Managing, Budgeting, Accounting, Business Development, Forecasting, Negotiating, Strategic Partnering, Problem Solving, Ethics, Fair Housing, Project Scheduling and Goal Setting.
Millie said that it would be an honor and a privilege to serve as Council and bring these skills to work for the residents of Riverhead Town.
