I am committed to treating all Family Court litigants with dignity and respect and ensuring that they receive the services they need to help them through their family crisis. The Suffolk County Family Court is a civil court that handles matters involving Custody, Visitation, Orders of Protection, Juvenile Delinquents, Persons in Need of Supervision, Adoptions, Neglect, Abuse and Guardianships. Litigants come to the Family Court because of a shift in their family dynamic that requires legal intervention.
Andrea Harum Schiavoni
The Hon. Andrea Harum Schiavoni, an attorney in Sag Harbor, is a licensed member of the state bars of New York and Florida, and the bar of the District of Columbia. After graduation from the University of Miami, FL in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a few years working as a journalist and editor, Judge Schiavoni earned her Juris Doctorate from Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles, CA, receiving a grant in Juvenile Justice.

Edward Hennessey
Ed Hennessey grew up in Mastic Beach, graduated from William Floyd High School, and continued his education at Touro College and St. John’s University where he earned his Law Degree. Ed is a former Assemblyman and Brookhaven Town Councilman where he concentrated on community redevelopment and planning initiatives, such as upgrading the Town’s infrastructure with federal highway projects and adopting local laws to change and improve land use. Prior to his public service, Ed was a prosecutor in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Presently Ed Hennessey is an Assistant County Attorney in Family Court.
