- Long Island Action
About the training:
In our current political reality, it’s more important than ever to strengthen our ability and personal commitment to work toward a country where everyone experiences safety and dignity. This workshop is geared toward folks who want to understand how hateful ideologies, including racism and anti-Semitism, operate in America to divide our communities. This training welcomes white Jews, Jews of color, Ashkenazi, Mizrachi, and Sephardi Jews, and their family.
This training is being organized by Bend the Arc: New York, with Action Together Long Island and the Suffolk Y JCC co-sponsoring.
(1) Deepen our understanding of systems of oppression, including racism and anti-Semitism, and how systems of oppression are interconnected.
(2) Explore how these systems have impacted the Jewish community, both historically and today.
(3) Get to know ourselves and one another.
(4) Strengthen our ability and personal commitment to advocate and organize for a more just and equal society.
The workshop will be participatory and discussion-based. Participants will be encouraged to share and listen to each other’s diverse experiences.
Tickets: Your ticket will help cover the costs of offering this training. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale. We do not want cost to be a barrier -- if you need a subsidized ticket please reach out to Kayla at firstname.lastname@example.org.
