(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci with Greg Kaufman, Board of Trustees President Arthur Brings, Jim and Yvette Loughlin, and County Legislator William Spencer

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) recently attended the Luau on the Harbor, a fundraiser sponsored by the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum and Education Center. Dedicated to the area’s local history, the museum holds about 6,000 documents and artifacts from Cold Spring Harbor and other Long Island whaling towns. The library and archival collection contains 2,800 primary and secondary volumes and manuscript materials from the Cold Spring whaling fleet, including ships’ logs, journals and business correspondence of the Cold Spring Whaling Company.

Lupinacci, along with other members of the community, honored Jim and Yvette Loughlin and Greg Kaufman at the event. The Loughlins are local community activists who have raised money for myriad causes including For the Fallen, the Junior Welfare League of Huntington, Operation Hearts and Homes, and the Huntington Hospital; Kaufman is the Executive Director of the Pacific Whale Foundation and has authored numerous books.

“This was a great event that honored three outstanding and compassionate individuals, said Lupinacci. “Their service to the community cannot be overstated. Through their active involvement with the local area and the museum, Jim, Yvette, and Greg have fostered an environment of learning and support that is an inspiration to individuals throughout the community. I am privileged to be able to honor them for their dedication to helping and teaching others.”

All proceeds from the benefit were given in support of children’s education programs and summer camp scholarships.
