Suffolk Legislature (17th LD)

Councilman Tom Donnelly is a life long resident of the hamlet of Deer Park. A 1984 Graduate of Deer Park High School Councilman Donnelly holds an Associates Degree from Suffolk County Community college and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint Joseph’s College Brooklyn NY.

Councilman Donnelly is a 33-year Decorated member of the Deer Park Fire department, and has served as as Captain of Engine Company 2 and was a Fire Commissioner for 10 years.

A former Town Planning Board member Councilman Donnelly was elected to the Town Board in 2011 and is now in his 2nd Term. He chairs the Town of Babylon’s Family Wellness and Public Safety committee’s. He is instrumental in the Towns’ Senior citizen Centers as well as the Town’s Family wellness programs, where he has been instrumental in helping to provide services to families in need. .

As Chairman of the Towns Public Safety committee he serves as a liaison for Volunteer Firefighters to the town Board as well as spearheading the Towns response to quality of life issues and working with our partners in the Suffolk County Police Department addressing quality of life issues to keep our communities safe.

A 30 Veteran with the City of New York, Tom was a NYPD Police officer for 3 years before entering the FDNY. Tom is currently 27 year Decorated member of the New York City Fire Department Tom also has served as a member of the Search and Rescue Task Force with deployments to World Trade Center attacks in 2001, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Haiti Earthquake in 2010 as well as Recent deployments to upstate NY to assist in Search and Rescue of Communities impacted by weather events.

Tom and His Wife Lisa a Registered Nurse with NorthWell Health reside in Deer Park with their 3 daughters Amanda, Alexandra and Adrianna, and the entire family has been active in the Deer Park Community for many years.
