Smithtown Democratic Committee chairman Ed Maher is calling for town highway superintendent Glenn Jorgensen's resignation, citing his arrest last week on four felony charges and a misdemeanor, and a December notice of claim alleging sexual harassment.

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota has directed the Smithtown Highway Superintendent to appear in First District court in Central Islip tomorrow morning.

Glenn Jorgensen, 63, the elected Superintendent of Highways since 2010, will appear in courtroom D-11 sometime after 11:00 am.

IR 1041, a Local Law to protect the honor of decorated veterans, was unanimously approved by the Legislature. The law, which was sponsored by Suffolk County Legislator William R. Spencer, M.D. and co-sponsored by Legislator Steve Stern, will prohibit persons from deceitfully presenting themselves as a decorated veteran while soliciting funds.
