“Learn, Educate, Advocate: An Immigrant Rights Workshop for Community Members”
Graduate students from the School of Social Welfare will be hosting a Train-the-Trainer workshop at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UUF) of Stony Brook on Friday, April 28th, 2017. The workshop will run from 6pm – 9pm and will be a collaborative effort by students, NYCLU members, and the UUF Racial Concerns Committee.
Stony Brook, NY, April 2017 – Graduate students from the School of Social Welfare, in partnership with NYCLU and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Stony Brook Racial Concerns Committee will host a Train-the-Trainer Workshop this coming Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in the Main Sanctuary (directions below).
Participants will:
• Gain an understanding of how immigration policies have shifted throughout the years and what to expect from the current administration.
• Learn how to help their clients, community members, and others invoke their rights and stay safe.
• Acquire strategies to advocate for immigrant at the local, state, and federal level.
"Learn, Educate, Advocate” was organized to provide resources and a plan of action for professionals and community members who want to know what they can do to defend those in this vulnerable population against predatory and abusive immigration practices.
This event is free to the public.
