Thomas McCarthy

Smithtown Highway Superintendent

Tom’s extensive executive management experience ensures he will “hit the highway running” on his first day in office.

Throughout his dynamic thirty-five year business career, Tom has served as Vice President, General Manager, Regional Manager and Director for various service firms including Fortune 100 Companies.

Tom’s outstanding organizational skills will enable him to reduce costs while still providing superior service to the people of Smithtown.

Bottom-line: Tom has the experience and the expertise to run our Highway Department effectively and efficiently.

A strong proponent of honest government, Tom is fond of saying he can sum up his campaign in one simple phrase:

“CLEAN ROADS – CLEAN GOVERNMENT”

A native Long Islander, born in Brooklyn and raised in Richmond Hill, Tom has lived in Suffolk County for thirty years and has been a proud resident of Smithtown for over fifteen years.

Tom is married to his sweetheart, Debbie, a telecommunications executive, and is the proud father of Thomas, who is working towards his career in law enforcement.

His extensive resume includes both government experience (as the New York State Government Liaison for Wells Fargo Guard and Investigative Services / div. Borg-Warner Protective Services, Inc.) and community service experience (as the Co-founder and former Vice President of the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce).

Currently, Tom still finds time to actively volunteer in Long Island political campaigns- the latest for Democrat Kathy Walsh’s Special Election for Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent.
