Michael Reynolds

Michael A. Reynolds was born in Bushwick Brooklyn in 1967 and moved to Queens in 1972. While growing up in Queens New York Michael attended P.S.147 in Cambria Heights, JHS 192 in Hollis Queens, and Andrew Jackson High School in Cambria heights where he played football and received All Queens honors and second-team All-City honors.

Michael was recruited out of high school to play football where he attended Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven CT. While there he played football and worked with the campus police as a campus escort. As a campus escort, he helped to keep students safe on campus by patrolling the campus at night allowing the student community to feel safe. Michael was also a Resident Advisor where he worked with residents on his floor to create and maintain a cohesive community for all. Michael graduated in 1989 and obtained his bachelor's degree in Corporate Communications with a minor in business. Upon graduating, Michael returned home to Queens, New York where he began working for United Parcel Service as a seasonal helper. During his time at UPS, Michael became a union driver, operations supervisor and District Account Executive.

Michael decided to pursue a career in education and became a junior high school teacher in Far Rockaway Queens. As a non-certified teacher and based on rules of certification and seniority, after a year and a half of service, Michael's teaching position was given to a certified teacher who had their teaching certification.

Michael’s next opportunity started a 22-year career at Verizon. While at Verizon, Michael held various leadership roles in management in customer service, engineering, field operations, high-speed data circuits, and logistics. Michael was promoted to region Manager of logistics in 2006 where he led his team until 2018. During his tenure at Verizon, Michael obtained an MA in Education from Adelphi University. Michael obtained an MS in Telecommunications and Information Management from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn NY and his MBA from Amberton University. Michael used his teaching experience and degree in education to teach ESL classes at Zoni Language Center in Queens.
Michael, along with his family, moved to Lake Ronkonkoma in 2005 where he resides today. As a member of the Lake Ronkonkoma community, Michael has been a supporter by being a volunteer soccer coach for the Sachem Youth Soccer League and by teaching ESL classes at Sachem’s Adult Education program. Michael also served as a volunteer on the Sachem Central School District Budget Advisory Committee.
Michael has held various leadership roles in large corporations where he was responsible for large budgets which included P&L responsibilities. He was required to build relationships and collaborate with team members who didn’t always agree. Michael is married to his wife Sandra for 24 years and they have 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
Michael is committed to ensuring all residents of Assembly District 5 can live and enjoy their homes. That their kids get a quality education and the state continues to support the tax payers by providing relief.
