Laura Jens-Smith has been an active community member since moving to Laurel in 2002. She has served on numerous community boards including the Board of Education.
Laura has always been there to lend a hand for her community working to spearhead new projects and initiatives. Currently, one of Laura's biggest projects is the work she does as a Project Coordinator for the North Fork Alliance. A community coalition whose goal is to reduce youth substance use.
Laura was raised in Port Jefferson Station and attended Comsewogue High School; she received her Associates Degree at Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing. Upon graduation, Laura began working as a staff nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit at Beth Israel Medical Center. While working as a nurse, Laura returned to school and received her Bachelors degree from Pace University.
Laura is married to her husband Robert M. Smith and they have been blessed to have two wonderful children, Molly and Ethan.
Laura makes her home in the Riverhead hamlet of Laurel.
