Eric Sepenoski, 37, grew up in Orient and East Marion. His appreciation for the area’s natural heritage stems from his time scalloping in Hallocks Bay and exploring the coastal wetlands as a kid. While pursuing his formal education, Eric returned to work his family’s farm each summer. He received his PhD from Northeastern University for the dissertation “Land Claims and Community Literacies of the North Fork,” in which he examines how our relationships to land give rise to our ways of speaking and writing in public. He lives with his wife and 5-year-old son on Seps Farm in East Marion, where they raise and sell local produce.
