Suffolk County Legislature (10th LD)
Derek Stein is a lifelong Central Islip resident who graduated from Stony Brook University where he studied Political Science and Sustainability. He worked for Presiding Officer Rob Calarco and DuWayne Gregory at the Suffolk County Legislature, overseeing the County's Marine Industry Revitalization Advisory Council among plenty of other responsibilities. In 2022, he worked at the Town of Babylon, administering the Town's Direct Support Program which provided over $8 million in grant funds to small businesses and non-profit organizations. He is also involved with numerous community groups, including Central Islip Connects for Change and the Central Islip Historical Society.
