Catherine Kent is a lifelong resident of Riverhead and the mother of three. After graduating from Riverhead High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Central Methodist University and then obtained a Master of Liberal Arts Degree from Stony Brook University. Catherine Kent recently retired from a 31-year teaching career in Riverhead Schools. Catherine chose to raise her family in Riverhead because she believes that with our diverse, hard-working community and beautiful waterways and farm fields, Riverhead is a wonderful place to call home.
Active in the community, Catherine has never shied away from hard work and leadership roles. She worked tirelessly to obtain more state aid for Riverhead Schools by lobbying legislators and organizing rallies. She has been active in the Baiting Hollow Congregational Church, Riverhead Faculty Community Theater and Riverhead Central Faculty Association. In 2017, she traveled to Haiti for 11 days to volunteer at the Kindest Hearts Academy.
Catherine believes in using a common-sense approach to bring people together and advocate for our town. Honest, diligent and hardworking, Catherine is pleased to be serving as a Councilwoman on the Riverhead Town Board.
