Christine didn't win IN SPITE of her commitment to progressive values. She won BECAUSE of them.
The people living in her district knew that it was time to stand up for the issues that matter. In a time when Trump is leading a charge to eliminate healthcare, derail education and institutionalize hate-mongering, the people of New York stood for something greater.
But the Republicans think this was just a fluke. They think that they own that part of Long Island, and it is theirs to take back.
