Long Island Action

The November, 2016 election left many of us struggling with finding the most effective way to get involved in changing the current political climate. We've marched, we've called, we've gathered, we've learned--but is there more we can do? Author Amanda Litman urges us to get off the sidelines, put down the placards and the pussy hats, and RUN FOR SOMETHING! If you've ever considered running for office, or helping a candidate with their campaign, join us on Saturday for practical advice, insights from the author, and inspiration!

Amanda Litman is co-founder and executive director of Run for Something, a PAC that helps recruit and support young, diverse progressives running for down-ballot office. Previously, she was the email director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, digital director for Charlie Crist's 2014 Florida gubernatorial campaign, deputy email director for Organizing for Action, and an email writer for Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

Cindy Vaupel, co-founder of the Long-Island based grassroots organization RaisingVoicesUSA, will interview Amanda Litman. RaisingVoicesUSA was formed after the November 2016 election to engage, educate, and empower community members to become informed and active citizens and advocates.
